Hwang stared at the entrance to the party room. He had never been invited to a party for years, but this party was weird for Hwang. He never celebrated this day called “Halloween”. He had heard of it from watching those cartoons when he was a child but never got to collect candy. Now, he was invited to a Halloween party. He felt very stressed. He had a hard time thinking about what kind of costume to wear. “Should I recreate that Iron Man costume that I made in Primary 5?” He thought. “No, it will make agents who spork Iron Man fics angry. What about a question mark? I like question marks. No, too time consuming. I would need to collect a lot of cardboard. What about a cardboard box? I always wanted to crawl in one and give people a shock,”
Eventually, he found his box, but it was a bit too small for Hwang. It was cramped and made it difficult for him to walk. Unfortunately, he couldn’t find a bigger one so he had to go to the party with it.
When he reached the door to the room, he felt insecure about how the other agents would react to the costume. “Will they hit me? Will they call me autistic or homeless?”
He told himself to take a deep breath. “Ok Hwang, it’s just a costume. They can’t be as bad as Randall right? They won’t beat you up for the petty reason of scaring them. They are not destructive children. It’s fine to dress up as a box. They are probably agents dressed up as anime characters,”
With those words of encouragement, he knocked the door, donned his box and proceeded to wait for a person to open it for him.
He didn’t want to open the door and put on the costume. It would make it look obvious that there was someone in the box. That would ruin his purpose of wearing one in the first place. He wanted to surprise them.
