But Ix gave a tiny smile and took a deep breath, beginning to sing. Her voice was a lovely soprano, if a bit warbly from nerves.
"Our whole universe was in a hot dense state,
Then nearly fourteen billion years ago expansion started. Wait...
The Earth began to cool,
The autotrophs began to drool,
Neanderthals developed tools,
We built a wall (we built the pyramids),
Math, science, history, unraveling the mystery,
That all started with the big bang (Bang)!"
Charlotte clapped lightly, but Ix wasn't done, instead launching straight into the next verse. Her voice was stronger now, having gotten over the initial nerves.
""Since the dawn of man" is really not that long,
As every galaxy was formed in less time than it takes to sing this song.
A fraction of a second and the elements were made.
The bipeds stood up straight,
The dinosaurs all met their fate,
They tried to leap but they were late
And they all died (they froze their asses off)
The oceans and Pangaea
See ya wouldn't wanna be ya
Set in motion by the same big bang!"
"How about you save the rest for the microphone, hun?" Charlotte said, putting a hand on Ix's shoulder before she could continue.
"O-oh, sorry," Ix said, turning beet red. "I'll shut up now."
"It was good, though," Charlotte said, grinning.
Ix shrugged morosely. "Not as good as you."
Charlotte rolled her eyes. "Oh, come off it, I've got a supernaturally enhanced voice; of course I'm going to sound good. You—" She poked Ix in the chest. "—should be proud."
