Hypothesis #1 being proven correct, it is theorised that this post will be tagged as 'new', due to being on a thread older than 24 hours, despite being an immediate reply to a more recent post.

Mod edit thing: This post got sorted into 2018. This made the thread a nice sticky on the "Test Posts" subforum. This is now not a problem.
