Who is obviously targeting Laburnum by this point.
Laburnum asked for help with a nasty troll, she sorted it and then the Board got spammed again with Laburnum as the target. Someone's just a very sore and sad loser.
But I suppose Dann must have dealt with the Board being spammed by the time I checked in again.
Spambot might have just picked up a username off the board and got me.
Yay Techno-Dann!
hugs nearest ypur At least we were already hanging out here.
Look, I'm sorry if I accidentally provoked anything. I didn't mean to do anything wrong if I did.
They're all coming from the same IP as far as I can see. Can we block it somehow?
And don't go avoiding the Board over something like this, 'kay?
I just don't want to cause a war with 4channers - we didn't do anything, but you know what they're like.

People who frequent the 4chan bulletin board. It's a popular location for trolls and jerks, but not everyone there is like that. Every individual board is indicated by one or two letters with a slash either side.
If you value your sanity stay away from /a/. Sunday 5pm Japan time (+9 GMT) is when /m/ should also be avoided, due to a flood of Gundam 00 posts. In fact, /m/ should be avoided for a good 24 hours after a new episode of that particular show airs, due to volume of posts on that topic.
This is just something we'll have to deal with.
Without getting our knickers in a twist, yeah?
And yes, it can be blocked, but the IP of the bot probably needs to be notified so they can put an end to it on their side of things. Note: I don't have any but the vaguest idea about how to do that.
... but the site I reverse-DNSed it on doesn't have anything other than the information that it's coming from the US. Can someone with more tech know-how than me fix it?
I won't go nuts again, don't worry. It's an automated bot this time, there'd be no point. Sorry about when I did. I was just angry.
Not too good with this stuff myself, however, so can't.
And yea, just taking and dealing with it is the better choice rather than getting flustered and upset.
I am kind of worried by those articles that got linked. I don't want that kind of thing happening if I can avoid it. The kind of behaviour described in the articles is highly illegal, but it's not possible to arrest hundreds of people at a time, and I can't exactly totally avoid the internet forever.
Maybe I should avoid the PPC board for a while?
Doubt that will happen. In all likelihood it's just one person with a grudge.
And I'd say don't bother to avoid the Board.
If I get directly harassed again I am going to involve the police.
Though, an IM thing or whatever'd be keen, since constantly checking the board is tedious. grin
I'm currently in the process of emailing their abuse function, so that should sort it out on their end. The contact is abuseATfdcserversDOTnet (insert punctuation as necessary - no need to attract spambots to them).
Since, y'know, it's a Sunday and all.
We can email them again if necessary. It's probably best if multiple people contact them, that'll get the problem through quicker.
